Community news - localised invisibility

Posted on December 09, 2013

A technique for applying transformation optics to only selected parts of an object has been proposed. This means, for example, that some parts of an object can be made invisible, whilst other parts remain visible. Alternatively, the technique can be used to create illusions - such as hiding part of a car, such as its body but not its wheels, and replacing the hidden part with something else - such as a racing car or van!
