Community News - metamaterial nano-composite coating for laser protection

Posted on November 06, 2014

Lamda Guard, who previously announced a collaboration with Airbus, have won the 2014 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Leadership. From the press release:

metaAir™'s optically transparent thin film filter is more than 100 times thinner than a human hair, and selectively blocks narrow-band, specific light frequencies by reflection rather than absorption. The technology consists of metamaterials, and can be adhesively applied on existing surfaces such as cockpit windows or windshields.

metaAir can be tuned to block multiple frequencies and relies on the narrow-band nature of laser light to maintain visibility. It is relatively easy to install and can be applied to new and existing aircraft. Other applications include law enforcement personnel and people who work with high intensity laser light sources.

Maybe one day you'll be able to paint your car and it will be invisible. Or beettr yet, you might paint that Kia and have it look like a Lamborghini. EricChron writer Tim Spell had a recent topic on his blog asking which paint color readers preferred. Invisible as a choice or that Lamborghini look if available would certainly have spiced up the comments.Invisible most certainly be popular with crooks. Sounds like an interesting and scary future we are headed toward.

Think about it like this: Today you can't listen to music, store data or buy sohmteing at a store without lasers. That is only true for optical storage, Eric. We also have solid state and magnetic storage options and you can still buy music on vinyl albums, although why you would want to is beyond me.

The Final Friday Docktail Parties are a HUGE SUCCESS!!! A BIG Shout Out goes out to CRAIG BRIDGES for your part in making the Sarasota Sailing Squadron THE PLACE TO BE on the FINAL FRIDAYS of the month. It's a great time with a great band (from 7:30-10:00pm) and great fedrnis. And is family friendly, too. We wouldn't miss it.

Scott, Love this direct appraoch. It's so simple, it's brilliant. Too often, marketers get caught up in all the details the technology, the platform, the specific messaging. Each of those is imporatant in its own right, but if you don't get the big picture that you need to give people something to talk about it's all for naught. Nice way to get the gears turning on a Friday morning! b7 09/10/09 at 15:32b7Thanks Jamie as always for your additionsWe have to ensure the base line message is there otherwise we get caught thinking that 'Features' are benefits. b7 09/10/09 at 15:32b7Thanks Jamie as always for your additionsWe have to ensure the base line message is there otherwise we get caught thinking that 'Features' are benefits.Leave a Comment Yay!
