Joe was involved in QUEST whilst studying for a PhD in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Exeter. His research revolved around the control of surface waves and includes different methods for guiding surface waves and experimental methods for characterising their properties. He also designed various demonstrator devices to investigate aspects of surface wave control. His work on surface wave Luneburg lenses won a “Best Poster” award at Nanometa’13.
