Dr Nina Meinzer received her Diploma in physics from the Universität Karlsruhe, Germany, in 2006, where she stayed on at Karlsruhe Insitutute of Technology as a postgraduate researcher and collegiate of the Karlsruhe School of Optics and Photonics. For her work on the coupling between plasmonic metamterials and semiconductor gain materials, she was awarded her PhD in July 2011.
Nina moved to Exeter as an Associate Research Fellow to work with Professor Bill Barnes on a three-year project, in which she continued researching plasmonics and gain. In September 2014 she joined QUEST, working with Professors Alastair Hibbins and Roy Sambles, where her current focus of research is on sub- and super-scattering structures in the microwave regime.
